Spring Art Show

What I thought was going to be a challenge has been. I have been working on a ring for the spring show and I'm happy to say it is not a ring at all! I am making a cuff bracelet now. the ring band in my previous post is too lightweight for such heavy sea glass. I went a little out of my comfort zone on this one with grand ideas that were not going to work out on a now small window of time to get it done. I do have most of the actual wire wore done. I still am going to wire wrap and knit the leaves tonight and am in the process of putting the flower together. All pieces must be spring themed so I am hoping that this will do! :)

Well, I officially jumped in this year and made a knitted fine silver heart pendant with what seems to be a great seller sea glass. This sea glass isn't just any it's made with red rare sea glass from Greece! I also went and made a smaller one with richer dark reds. I have even more ideas with this new red gem for the future!

Spring Show

So I have decided to push myself into making something special for the spring show. First up ....ring band hand cut leaf design in band. 1/2 cut, other half to go. Next after that will be forming band and soldering in a mount of some sort. Then I plan on knitting up a whole bunch of sea glass into a flower and attaching it. This should be interesting since I haven't done any of this before together. I love challenges.....

Lists

I feel like I am swamped within a huge pile of lists. Appointments needed to be made, groceries that need to be bought, laundry, medical appointments to go to, insurance issues for my son , all this and trying to run the house or even keep it clean on top of trying to run a small business. With that there are lists too. I just had a custom order but waiting on a piece to attach to it just to get it done or entering into an art show with ideas drawn but not sure where to start. New projects with metal clay waiting to be started but the time is just not there.I love being busy don't get me wrong. Sometimes I just want to take a break. Spending that extra minute combing my daughters hair or cuddling with my son is more important I say! So I feel like there is a juggling of sorts going on. I just need to perfect it.....I could also really use that office assistant that can clean up after my ideas explode on the work bench!

Cleaning Workbench Away

It feels as though I am a sculpture artist and chipping away at one thing or another on getting things cleaned off the work bench from last year. I have been busy restocking and getting to projects that were put on the back burner. I intend on getting the pest done soon and get that metal clay out now that I have the gas to get started. I know I won't get everything I had on the bench done, but I already feel like I made a huge dent into it. I made few earrings here that use some techniques I was using last year with encasing marbles, and tear drops but a more petite style.I also have had a great amount of interest in my sea glass pendants with hand knitted circle cages. I tryed to make a few in all colors the last two days I managed to get a red, orange, yellow, green, two aquas, two blues, a purple and a rainbow done.

Holiday hubub

Well the holiday was crazy just like everyone said it would be. I have some time get ready for next year right? :) I am right now restocking some items in my shop as well and finishing up a few that were left on my work bench once the ornament making took over. I started making ornaments late summer and now realize I need to start earlier this year. So this month I decided to take a huge break from them. I am focusing my attention on metal clay stating next week. I have some ideas to incorporate my knitted wire with the metal clay. I am super excited to be able to do this. If it weren't for last years sales I wouldn't have been able to try this new medium. I also am focusing my attention to sea glass pieces. I have a huge stash of glass and will be making some with this metal clay as well as some more of my circle basket pendants. Suggestions are always welcome in fact desired!:) I will be trying to post more to this site for those of you who are interested how I come about my ideas. Starting next week I 'll will try to better about posting weekly! :)

I really have not been doing so well with posting , most of my posts make it on facebook. Well, Big sales coming up this weekend and the following weekend is a craft show. I have been working on tree toppers, and ornaments like crazy and to tell you the truth I am looking forward to going back to making some jewelry.I have so many ideas I want to do. The ornaments sold well last year at my Mother in laws shop so I thought they would do well this year so far OK. I wonder if there will be a flood of sales this weekend? I am keeping my fingers crossed. I have been thinking more about trying some new things next year. I am still thinking of possible medium changes. As well as new ones I am excited to try. I will see how the sales go and make those changes if money allows.For now, Stick with what I know and make it the best I can!:)

Tired but still going.......Part Two

Seems like when it rains it pours. I have been so busy working on Christmas ornaments and had two sick little ones and myself for a week now. I hope I can keep up with the demand, i still have to get more made for a local store. I hope by spending quality family time today and after a reunion tomorrow, I can focus on my art. I feel like I need to get back into some jewelry after the last few weeks. I'm not saying I don't want to make the ornaments, it's just that I enjoy the jewelry making so much more. the wire is smaller and challenging! I have always been up for a good challenge! I have so many ideas and never enough time! Well so it seems. :)

Sorry I have been knitting all sorts of goodies. I really need to stay on top of posting here. I have been making Christmas ornaments for my store and The Big Red Barn where I have many pieces for sale. I already gave them 12 ornaments, last year I had over 30 and sold almost all of them! So I still need to get more done for them too! I have a few new ideas I want to work on but they are more elaborate and take more time, I hope to get to work on them. One is an angel topper and a star topper as well as icicles. We shall see, I am working on some star ornaments right now.

Feels like one day rolls into another. One project rolls into another. I had a festival I went to and did really well. I had so many people ask me about how I knit the jewelry and so on. It was nice to do a festival and I hope to do more. I am currently working on a few projects one being the Etsymom teams fall color challenge and the other a challenge of my own. I am trying to get more likes for my Facebook page so I am working on some ornaments to give away to the winners. That of course will have to be finished next week! I have donated my time to the Fort Wayne Ballet this week sewing mouse hats for 18" , for my daughters dance studio's fundrasier. I feel like a jack of all trades this week. For the color challege I am thinking about these 7.......but I can only choose 2!

I am working on some pendants for my shop. Mostly sea glass, I am getting very high interest in sea glass from my customers. I am making them just like the earrings but trying to figure out some more designs.I guess today is a designing day!

I am not sure but time seems to stand still for somethings in my mind. Events in my life, weird how sometimes the past makes sense now and how we couldn't see it then. Now frozen in my mind. Past mistakes, sorry's that never were given, weird how they come back. Lessons learned. just like my pieces, always something unexpected. Decisions to be made. Somethings can be erased but still leave a mark. Others, unfinished projects I have loads of them. Some day I say, someday.

Paint on canvas check, paint on my hands check, paint in my hair, paint everywhere check! I am the messiest painter by far. I am still working on background, paint is still wet too, bit of glare on photo. I cannot wait to do foreground....butterflies and lavender soon to be painted!

Cleaning up the mess!

My work area looks really bad. I can't seem to get to the painting under all the other beads and things on my work counter. So i asked my hubby to bring up a shelf from the basement to help clean off the clutter. I can finally see that painting, hopefully I can get to working on it this week. I also want to get working on those silk scarves I have delayed enough!:)

Seriously I am not kidding I am afraid my ideas run longer than the wire I just bought! i made these six pieces and a few necklaces for some of the lamp work glass beads I bought a month or so ago. I am waiting on some parts to get them complete, so it will be awhile until I get pics done.I also have some others things I am working on, hope to get pictures up soon!:)

I just spent what feels like hours putting together business cards! I even did it online thru MOO. I received there sample pack and loved it , but thought they were a little pricy, however they are having a sale right now so i guess I will have to use them!:) I also bought some stickers too!

Here are 16 of the charms I made with the hand dyed silk, now when the wire gets here, I have 16 necklaces to make! i am making these for a fall craft show I'm going to be in.

Last night I worked on a Christmas ornament. took me all my time to make one. I hope I pickup the pace for this years sales. Last year I was working my tail off making them nonstop. I couldn't make them fast enough. thought I would work out some new patterns that were in my head. I will share some pics when I get a few more done. Today I hope to get painting during my son's nap and maybe tonight too. I really do have to squeeze in the time when I can. When school gets back in session I will have more time than I know what to do with! :)

Disappointed in others

I know there are critics out there, I know not everyone is going to like what I make. Finding it hard to understand how someone can decline someone to a promotional team and tell them there work is immature. I love it how some people put others down to promote themselves, sad. Anyways, on with my day and my work which is more important than one persons idea of how I need to fit their mold! Here is a new cuff in progress.....I think it's too plain, but am exited how this piece has given me some ideas for a sculptural piece I am thinking about making with wire.

My cuff bracelet made it into the art show! It will be on display July 8th -August 20th at the Allen County Public Library downtown Fort Wayne Indiana! I am so excited I'm going to burst!

Seems like I always need more time, today unfortunately was full of appointments and little time for creativity. However, it didn't stop my brain from doing any while waiting at the doctors office! have a few ideas rolling around hopefully I can get them on paper before I lose them!

So I decided to put this one in the show instead of the earrings I listed before. I am putting it up for sale too. Jason made a good point I have been creating like crazy and I haven't sold but a few of my pieces. I should give someone the opportunity to buy it at the art show if I can. Sad to see it go, but I have pictures if it does!

Entering an art show!

So I think these are three I am entering tomorrow at a local art show here in Indiana. It has been a long time since I have been in a art show that is judged and displayed. I am of course nervous. I hope that one at least makes it into the show! I did add hooks to the marble earrings, just was lazy this morning and didn't want to take a picture! Mondays.....

I wish I had all the equipment I had in college. I would have made these little windows myself and a lot better. The latch wouldn't tighten and I broke two. They are now being glued in my bench clamp. Finally using that tool!:) But, still I think these might be a good idea regardless!

I am always going to the store and finding stuff I was not planning on getting. I have a seriously bad thing called a creative monster. I of course bought them and now going to make them right after I type this! I found these at Hobby lobby and will be making my knitted necklaces with colored beads to go with these. But I am inserting hand dyed silk pieces in the glass window pendants! They are going to be very colorful and fun! I am excited!

Here is the start of that rug, just a section of the background but a start none the less!
I am excited about these too. I am using vintage marbles and going to make these into dangle earrings!

I have been for weeks wanting to get started on some paintings. I just now am getting the urea water made. What is urea water? Lets just say if the that water doesn't get made there will be no silk painting going on! Well, when I finally have time to do it! This is one of last years paintings. Peonies in a vase.

My floor cloth rug painting has some sketches on it finally but no paint. I think once I get the urea water done( it has to cool), so that will be put off until tomorrow then. So maybe I'll crack open a tube of acrylics and just go paint crazy on that rug!
